Marcus Williams is the Founder and Editor-in Chief of Urban Drummer Magazine. He is also a professional drummer, engineer and instructor. He is also the owner of The Cave Recording Studio, located in Lithonia, Georgia.
Mr. Williams has toured with Tyler Perry's play What's Done in the Dark as a drummer for the production. He was also the drummer in the plays Madea Goes to Jail and Why did I get Married. In addition, Marcus performed in Tyler Perry's number one movies Diary of A Mad Black Woman and Daddy's Little Girls.
Marcus Williams is a renowned drummer and instructor. His credits include teaching John Blackwell advanced drum studies and techniques. These techniques were then created to incorporate better hand foot coordination which resulted in John Blackwell 's new DVD Jia concert, recorded at the Berkley School of Music in Boston featuring Dennis Chambers, John Blackwell, Terry Lynn Carrington,Marcus Williams, Vinnie Calleuta, and many more. As an drummer, Marcus have worked for a number of well know artists throughout the years. His background includes working with artists such as George Howard, Issac Hayes, The S O S Band, Ronnie Laws, Anthony Lockett(Cameo), Eddie Kendricks,(Temptations), Gloria Gainer, Candi Staton, the Pointer Sisters, James Bignon, Richard Groove Holmes, Will Downing, Mose Davis, Jean Carne, Nell Carter, the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Peaboe Bryson, Jimmy Bo Horne, Babby Mason, Vickie Winnans, and Darryl Coley.
Marcus Williams have also done a number of commercials for radio and television including commercials for Nike, Turner Classic Movies for Brazil, Spain,and the USA, Miami Subs, Sprint, Tide, Atlanta Constitution, Kleenex, Applebee's, ESPN, The Masters Golf Tournament, and Reebok.
